01The seam the shelf is named for
Every short on the site with the gathered seam at the centre back, visible or knitted in, at 2.5, 3.6, 4.5 and 6 inches and in every rise the shelf runs to.
Colourways on this page: Blue Green, Light Blue, Brown, Dark Blue, Blue, Wine Red, Chocolate Brown, Black, and 73 more.
A scrunch seam is a line of gathered fabric at the centre back, and on this site it is a fact about the cloth rather than a promise about you: the gathering lets the knit follow the shape under it instead of bridging across it, and the card says no more than that. Nearly every short in the range carries it, which is why this page reads almost like the shorts shelf; the difference is the two families that do not, and they are not here.
Two versions exist and the card names them. The visible scrunch is a ruched seam you can see from behind; the hidden or invisible version is knitted into the cloth so the back reads smooth, and it is the one to choose under a longer top or if you would rather the seam did not announce itself. Lengths run 2.5 to 6 inches, rises run high on most families and low on two, and the impact family goes to 3XL.

02About these pieces
The seam the shelf is named for
A visible scrunch shows as a gathered line from behind, which is the point of it; a hidden scrunch is knitted into the cloth and reads as a plain back at arm's length. Neither shows through a top that covers the hip, and neither is a thin patch: the gathering is extra fabric, not a seam sewn through the knit.
A short that rides is nearly always a hem too tight for the thigh, folding under because the leg opening is a letter too small. In the right letter the hem sits flat because the whole short stretches evenly. If you land between two letters, take the larger for walking and the smaller only if the pair is for standing still.
